"A Vision"

Founder, The late Rev. Maurice C. Carter, Sr.

"Write what I say to you and follow my instructions and many will be blessed."

Thus began the journey to what is now World Victory Church and Life Center.

On August 13,1985,  Reverend Maurice C. Carter was blessed with a Vision from God to step out on faith and begin a ministry that would embrace the scripture of John 16:33, "...in the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."  Reverend Carter placed complete trust in God, put all things in His hands, and prayed for strength to be as Jesus - obedient unto the Father.  And so began the quest towards finding and acquiring a building with no deacons, trustees, members, or financial bankers.  He had no-one but God when he started out, and God proved to be more than enough: Matthew 19:26, "...but with God all things are possible."

During the next three months, with unwavering faith in God, and the diligent help of a friend in real estate, Reverend Carter found a building with the asking price of $250,000.  The building would have to be renovated from top to bottom, but Reverend Carter knew without a doubt that this was the place.  Armed with only his Vision from God and his good name, "A good name is rather to be chosen than riches" - Proverbs 22:1,Reverend Carter met with the director of a local savings and loan association.  Everything seemed to be progressing well; realization of the Vision was growing closer, then, the world closed a door.  But, God opened another!  Within days the amount of funds needed for the purchase of the building had nearly doubled!  World Victory would become a reality!

Many friends and future members rolled up their sleeves and began the initial task of setting up a temporary worship center within the building and named it The Hall of Faith.  On Sunday, November 3, 1985, the first worship service was conducted.  Praise the Lord!

Reverend Maurice C. Carter, Sr. was a tirelessly devoted pastor of all at World Victory Church and Life Center.  He entered into eternal life on September 1, 2001, but the Vision is still unfolding. Our Operation Outreach message is written below, and can also be found each Sunday in our church bulletin.

"Therefore go and make disciples .. baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  And teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given to you; and be sure of this .. that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

(Matthew 28:19-20, Living Bible)

World Victory Church and Life Center, under the inspiration and at the direction of the Holy Spirit, has wholeheartedly embraced the idea that growth is the work and will of God, and therefore is an innate quality of the New Testament church.

Jesus said, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be my witnesses .. to the remotest part of the earth." That, friends, is the commission of the church of Jesus Christ.

The Bible substantiates that a church should and can grow. Growth is the  very nature and heart of the gospel. Indeed, the highest priority we have is to bring men, women, and children into a living relationship  with Jesus Christ.

This is our goal at WVCLC. There is a need for a biblical approach to church growth. This approach can be conveyed through sound teaching sound teaching and Bible study. We need each member to dedicate go forward and persevere in obedience to God's Word. The victory is already won.

John 16:33 "..Be of cheer; I have overcome the world."
